IBM i in cloud, rest of the system still local - getting terrible WAN performance

Hi - I am a World admin from a couple jobs back and now have been asked to assist in the migration of an EnterpriseOne 9.2 system. The IBM i has already been moved to the cloud while the rest of the system (all Windows) remains at one of our sites. You can probably guess where this question is going - performance is terrible!

I have read the forum entries regarding performance over the WAN - I would guess that E1 was never designed to be setup this way. So I guess my question is - is...
