Delete Unused Item Master / Item Branch Records

Is there a way to automatically delete Item Branch / Item Master records where there has not been an item ledger transaction in say X number of months? Our teams got overly agressive in setting up SKU's in the beginning in every possible branch. We'd love to delete a bunch automatically given the right criteria (we don't want to delete ones that will be for the future, for instance).
